Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882) was an American poet, philosopher, essayist, and lecturer. He was a leader of the transcendentalist movement of the mid-nineteenth century. This confederation of New England-based writers and philosophers promoted a system of thought based on a belief in the essential unity of all creation, in the innate goodness of humanity, and the notion that insight was far more important than logic and experience when seeking basic truths.
