InMighty Justice, trailblazing African Americancivil rights attorney Dovey Johnson Roundtree recounts herinspiring life storythat speaks movingly and urgently to our racially troubled times. From thestreets of Charlotte,North Carolina, to the segregated courtrooms of thenation’s capital; from the male stronghold of the army whereshe broke genderand color barriers to the pulpits of churches where women had waited for yearsfor the right tominister—in all these places, Roundtree soughtjustice. At a time when African Americanattorneys had to leave the courthousesto use the bathroom, Roundtree took on Washington’s white legalestablishmentand prevailed, winning a 1955 landmark bus desegregation case that would helpto dismantle thepractice of “separate but equal” and shatter Jim Crow laws. Later, she led the vanguard of women ordainedto the ministry in the AMEChurch in 1961, merging her law practice with her ministry to fight forfamilies andchildren being destroyed by urban violence.

 Dovey Roundtreepassed away in 2018 at the age of 104. Though her achievements were significant and influential, sheremains largely unknownto the American public.Mighty Justicecorrects the historical record.
